Rahul Gandhi is a subject to many memes on the internet. However, he too does manage to crack some jokes and the most recent one has left us all amazed. The congress chief was recently addressing a gathering ‘Sanjhi Virasat Bachao Sammelan’ when midway his mic stopped working. In a video tweeted by news agency ANI, he is seen taking a jibe at BJP president, Amit Shah.
Rahul Gandhi was incidentally talking about how BJP is building a ‘cage’ around people and restricting their rights. “If it is your golden bird, then you have to make a cage for it. Can’t do without making a cage. So they (BJP) are busy in making the cage and we are trying to stop them…”, he had said. His next two sentences were inaudible to the audience. However, as soon as the problem was fixed and his mic started working, Gandhi said, “Yeh Amit Shahji ne mic off kar diya hai.”

After hearing this sentence, thousands of people who had gathered in Delhi to hear him speak started cheering and laughing. Congress has never missed a chance to accuse BJP of restricting people of their rights. Shashi Tharoor posted a cartoon on twitter on Independence Day which depicted the same.
However, the banter between the two party chief’s isn’t new. They might be bitter critics of each other, but both Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi often mention each other in their wisecracks, jokes and end up adding much-needed chuckles to our lives. Recently when Rahul Gandhi went to Italy to meet his grandmother, he had announced the same on twitter. During this period of time BJP claimed victories in Tripura and Nagaland. Amit Shah’s speech on the win included a dig at the shehzaada of Congress as he said, “Mujhe WhatsApp pe message aaya hai ki Italy mein chunaav hai (I got a message on WhatsApp that about Italy elections).”
Not only that, during a campaign by in Karnataka, Amit Shah mixed up names of BJP’s chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa and the former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and called Yeddyurappa corrupt. Rahul Gandhi had a great laugh and didn’t miss the opportunity to make fun of his competitor on twitter.
Hopefully both the chiefs keep messing up. This is because no matter who makes a mistake, the public will have the last laugh.
