Founded in 1958, LG recently launched its new smartphone. Called the LG V40 ThinQ (pronounced Thin-Queue), the phone is not like other smartphones. High-end might boast of 3 cameras, however, the V40 has as many as 5 cameras. The new high-end phone comes with 2 selfie cameras and 3 rear cameras. LG heavily advertised this phone with the slogan: “What’s It Gonna Take? Switch to the 5 Camera Phone.”
The V40 ThinQ is a huge phone with a 6.4-inch display. You would definitely need a case for this one since it has a fragile glass back. The touchscreen display comes with a resolution of 1440 pixels by 3120 pixels. LG’s new phone is powered by the Android 8.1 Oreo OS, however users might have to wait for the Android Pie update. Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of memory keeps the phone on par with all top-end smartphones.
ThinQ also has a dedicated Google Assistant button on the side of the phone. The battery is sub-par. It is powered by a 3300mAh battery and you might end up with 30-40% remaining at the end of the day. However, that depends on your usage. It also has wireless charging options available for people on-the-go. The V40 ThinQ is also IP68 waterproof. Moreover, the headphone jack has a Hi-Fi Quad DAC for wired headphones and DTS:X for Bluetooth buds.Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC and USB Type-C. Sensors on the phone include Face unlock and Fingerprint sensor, which is right below the 3 cameras.
Now let’s talk about the main attraction, the cameras. There are three rear cameras on the phone: One is a normal 12MP camera like any other phone. There is another 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, just like the iPhone, and a 16MP wide-angle lens when you need multiple things in one frame. On the front, there’s a standard 8-megapixel for the selfie lovers and a wide-angle 5-megapixel lens for group shots. You can easily switch between the standard, zoom, or wide-angle lens by tapping icons in the camera app. There is also a Triple Shot mode which lets you click with all the 3 cameras.
LG V40 ThinQ is priced at INR 72,490 and is expected to be available for sale on December 26th.
