Jio Phone 2 made its debut at the Reliance Annual General Meeting in July this year. The successor to the Jio Phone will go on a flash sale on 16th August at 12p.m. However, the phone will be available only on the company’s official online store, Jio.com. The Jio Phone 2 will have a limited stock on the website, hence the flash sale model.
The handset comes equipped with a QWERTY keypad and runs Kai OS much like its predecessor. Reliance announced that the phone will also be able to run Google Maps, Facebook, and Youtube. Whatsapp will also be introduced; however, the company has not specified when this feature will roll out. Compared to the Jio Phone, the latest model has a relatively better design. Even the display is larger. It uses the 4 way navigation keys which is quite similar to the older Blackberry phones.
The Jio Phone 2 features a 2.4 inch QVGA display and comes with a 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. However, Jio also allows users to expand this to 128GB with a microSD card. The phone has a battery back-up of 2000mAh.
It supports connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and Radio. Moreover, the dual-sim Jio Phone 2 has a dedicated Google Assistant button for voice commands on the go.
Jio Phone 2 has front and rear cameras both. The rear camera is 2MP primary sensor. The front camera is an old-school 0.3MP one which will support video calls which is a bad news for all the selfie enthusiasts.
The Jio Phone 2 is available on the official website for an introductory price of ₨ 2,999. The sale will start from today, 12p.m however you probably need to refresh the website a couple of times due to heavy traffic. The company will deliver the handset at doorstep in 5-7 working days. Jio is also providing plans priced at ₨ 49, 99, and 153.
