India Vs Pakistan: ‘7-0’, On Hold For Their Maiden Victory

India has a spectacular win its 7th ODI game against Pakistan in an ICC World Cup tournament in a row! Pakistan is still waiting for its maiden Victory against their arch-rival, India.

The play seemed over when rain arrived at 18:20 BST, but it resumed 55 minutes later and with 15 minutes to go before the scheduled cut-off time.

India scored a whopping 336 for 5 wickets, Rohit(140) and Virat(77) adding most of the runs on the board!

Whereas, only Mohammad Amir (3-47) was impressive with the ball for Pakistan and their run-chase crumbled in front of a vehement crowd before the showers added further confusion.

This game was like a ‘cherry on the top’ for most of the Indian team fanatics.

This game was a complete sell-out, one billion TV viewers and more than 700,000 ticket requests. However, it ended up with Pakistan knocking the ball around in front of a half-empty stadium.

India’s batting lit up in the morning but, with the typical British weather- Pakistan’s innings started to collapse.

Hardik Pandya took two wickets in two balls and Vijay Shankar impressed on his World Cup debut. India’s concern stands over the fitness of seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar who left the field with a hamstring injury!

KL Rahul, partnering Rohit in Shikhar Dhawan’s place, was solid. Rohit struck out while hitting Hassan Ali through the off side with flamboyance. Whereas, Rahul struggled. This was the duo’s first time opening together and they displayed. How? With Rohit, lucky not to get run out after a mix-up in the middle, as Fakhar Zaman threw the ball to the wrong end from mid-wicket. India did struggle in the final 10 overs in between the rain.

Pakistan’s chase was more of a limping situation. Needing 6.74 runs an over, which seemed to be nearly impossible after the rain. Pakistan needed 136 off 30 balls, which was a feat unimaginable.

They hit just six boundaries in the opening 10 overs and struggled to impose themselves. But there was no partnership, there was not even a slight effort by Pakistan to rotate the strike. They had scored 117 for 1 in the 24th, they lost four wickets in the next three overs. Babar Azam got out by a fine, fizzing delivery from Kuldeep, while nine balls later Mohammad Hafeez holed out at long-on off Pandya. Jasprit Bumrah bowled at the right lengths throughout the match, confusing the batsmen with his angled deliveries. But it was Shankar who took the first wicket.

India had one of their best games in this tournament with a victory, time will tell how the further matches will unfold.
