BSNL is trying to capitalise on the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 craze. And has announced a fibre broadband plan for consumers that brings free Hotstar subscription. The Superstar 300 plan is offering 300GB data per month at 50Mbps speed for a monthly rental of Rs 749. But the main highlight of this new plan is the addition of free Hotstar subscription, that will give subscribers full year access to Hot star’s premium content.
Hotstar is the official streaming partner for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in India. The streaming platform has recorded a record-breaking viewership during this year’s cricket season that included the IPL and the ongoing World Cup 2019. In addition, millions of fans turning to the streaming platform to watch the sporting event, it makes sense for BSNL to launch a plan that capitalises on this.
The launch of the new BSNL Superstar 300 plan right now is no accident. BSNL has been planning to go behind other telecoms. It comes to offering a bundled streaming subscription with broadband plans. Vodafone has also been offering free Amazon Prime membership on select postpaid plans for some-time now.
