Adam Levine’s decision to leave The Voice after 16 seasons has shocked everyone from longtime fans to his best frenemy Blake Shelton. The announcement was first made by host Carson Daly on Friday’s Today.
“After 16 seasons, Adam Levine, our beloved coach, and friend has decided to leave The Voice,” Daly said. “Adam was one of the original coaches who launched the show, winning the competition three times and inspiring many of the artists that he worked so closely with over the years. He’ll always be a cherished member of The Voice family… and we wish him nothing but the best.”
There’s some magic here!
Furthermore, in a candid post on Instagram, Adam opened up about his journey on The Voice and the innumerable cast and crew members who helped him get there. “We had no idea what we were doing or where it was going. After the first day of shooting, I sat there, stunned. I said to myself ‘there’s some magic here. Something is definitely happening,’” he wrote. “It went on to become a life-shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever.”
Adam further on continued to thank people like producer Mark Burnett; Paul Mirkovich and the rest of the band; and even the network as a whole. “I am truly honoured to have been a part of something so amazing which I’ll always cherish for the rest of my life,” he wrote.
“Thank you to every single coach I ever sat in those chairs with. That is a shared experience that is singularly ours. We have that for life,” he added. “Thank you, Carson Daly, for babysitting the musicians and making sure our shoes were tied and we had our lunch boxes. You are the backbone of this thing and we appreciate you more than you know.”
“And, BLAKE F****N’ SHELTON. I couldn’t hide my love for you even if I tried,” he said. “Seriously. I tried. Can’t do it. Our friendship is and always will be one for the books. Whatever this whole surreal experience was, I’m just happy I got to experience it with you. You’re my brother for life. Kelly and John, take care of the cowboy and I’m sure I’ll be back to say hi very very soon. Lots of love to you both.”
Adam also reached out to the fans through his post. “And lastly, to all of the loyal voice fans, there’s literally no show without you guys,” he said. “For me, it was time to move on. Your support has meant EVERYTHING.”
Christina Aguilera says she wasn’t surprised
“We held hands from the beginning of that show,” the 38-year-old, explained to Access in a new interview published on Monday.
“We kicked it off and we didn’t know where it was going to go, what was going to happen, so I think there’s always a time and a place where, especially as an artist, getting back into your creative mode and getting out of that kind of environment is important I think. I actually gained some respect with that decision.”
“I think it’s good to follow your heart over Dallas sometimes,” she added with a laugh.
